Getting to Lee Stocking Island

There are several options to get to LSI. Most visitors fly commercially to Exuma International Airport (GGT) on Great Exuma, which is the closest airport to LSI.

Several commercial carriers service the airport on Exuma. They include, but are not limited to:

Flight time from Florida to Great Exuma is approximately 1.5 hours. Commercial flight schedules and fares vary seasonally, so it is advisable to call for latest flight information as well as luggage weight restrictions. To get to LSI from the airport on Great Exuma, visitors must take a land taxi and a water taxi in an open boat (total trip ~ 1 hour). Once we receive your flight information, PIMS will arrange all incoming and outgoing land and water taxis for your project. Charter passenger flights directly to LSI can also be arranged. Please Project Coordination staff at (561) 741-0192 x 230 for more information.

Customs and Immigration

Regardless of how you arrive in the Bahamas, visitors must go through Bahamian Immigration and Customs. Non-U.S. citizens must present a passport and should check with their embassy for additional requirements. You should indicate that you are here for a scientific meeting/conference. Be advised that all visitors to the Bahamas must pay a $15 departure tax in cash (U.S. or Bahamian currency) upon leaving the country.
