DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP

Summary: General assistance with projects, development campaigns and databases relevant to the efficient and productive operation of the Florida Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

An unpaid intern will be expected to work between 8-10 hours per week and a paid intern will be expected to work between 10-15 hours per week depending upon their class schedule. Students will be supervised by the Development staff at the Perry Institute for Marine Science for work that could include (according to priority):

Enter current data into contact database. Organize and distribute marketing materials. Assist in distributing donor follow-up correspondences. Organize and assist with bulk mailing. Assist in the distribution of press releases.

Intern may be asked to assist in coordinating and attending organizational events.

Qualifications:

Education: Student must be pursuing a college degree and have quality grades.

Required Skills: Must be a self-starter and self-motivated. Excellent computer and writing skills. Must be reliable and responsible. Accurate typing ability and data entry.

Helpful skills include:

Database experience (MS Access / MS Excel / MS Outlook) Administrative experience and computer literacy in a variety of Microsoft (MS Word, Publisher) and Adobe software (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator). Ability to handle multiple projects Graphics and design skills Advanced software (applications to include Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Photoshop, MS Publisher, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel)

To participate students must:

• be pursuing a college degree have quality grades and recommendations
• be able to work during normal business hours
