ROGER MCMANUS
CHAIRMAN

Roger McManus is the President Emeritus of The Ocean Conservancy (formerly the Center for Marine Conservation). In the Clinton Administration, Mr. McManus served as the Senior Advisor for the Oceans, with the Office of Secretary in the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI). Under Secretary Bruce Babbitt he had had lead DOI staff responsibilities for the Coral Reef Task Force, the initiative to develop a management regime for the Northwest Hawaiian Islands, DOI marine protected areas and related issues. From 1984 to 1999 he served as the President of the Center for Marine Conservation that he built from a virtually bankrupt organization to the largest conservation organization in the world devoted to marine conservation. During the Carter and Reagan Administrations, Mr. McManus served as senior staff in the Executive Office of the President. He has been a member of several interagency and private sector commissions to review marine policy and has served on the governing boards for several charities including the Perry Institute for Marine Science, and World Conservation Union's Species Survival Commission.

SCOTT MACLEOD
VICE CHAIRMAN

Scott MacLeod has served on the PIMS Board of Trustees since July of 1999. He is a retired Commander of the United States Navy where he served with distinction as a fighter pilot during the Korean Campaign. He later went on to serve as an Apollo Test Astronaut. As the Lunar Module representative, he was the official voice of space programs. Mr. MacLeod has been a frequent guest lecturer and has published over 50 research memoranda and numerous other technical articles on reduced gravity flight. Mr. MacLeod established and managed an Asian base for international management engineering and has been instrumental in revitalizing numerous other businesses including work in the airline and high tech industries. He has served on the Board of Directors for Dyn-O-Mat, Inc., developers of environmentally absorbent products and is on the Board of Directors for Infusion, constructors of mobile medical facilities. He is the Vice President of Fort Lauderdale Community Services, a member of the Broward Community College Aviation Institute Advisory Board, and a member of the Runaway Bay Board of Directors.

WILLIAM E. BURCKART
SECRETARY/TREASURER

Mr. Burckart is a resident of the Village of Tequesta, having served on the Village Council from 1988 until 1996, retiring as the Vice-Mayor. After graduating from Denison University where he became a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, he has built a real estate and brokerage business into a leading force in the local commercial development industry. Currently, Mr. Burckart is a partner developing the Publix anchored Jupiter Farms Center and is also managing partner in a joint venture with the South Indian River Water Control District to develop additional flood control for the Jupiter Farms community. Past clients of Mr. Burckart include Publix and Winn Dixie Supermarkets, K-mart, Walgreen's, McDonalds, Exxon, Burger Kings, Fidelity Federal and many more retail and industrial clients. Mr. Burckart has been very involved with the Jupiter Environmental Research and Field Studies Academy.

BJ CLANCY-DEVEAUX

Ms. BJ Clancy-Deveaux is a self employed marketing and management consultant. Her multi-faceted career has enabled her to develop her professional skills in the public and private sectors. Ms. Clancy-Deveaux is a strong family advocate, active in church, youth and community work. As a professionally trained social scientist, BJ Clancy-Deveaux also served as Executive Director of the Bahamas Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Clancy-Deveaux advises governmental agencies, financial institutions, manufacturers, retailers, wholesalers and new businesses. She provides consulting services in the Bahamas, the Caribbean and the South Florida Region, and is actively involved in efforts to protect the unique bio-diversity of the Bahamas. Ms. Deveaux holds a Master of Science Degree in Human Development from Pennsylvania State University. Ms. Deveaux and her husband Ambassador of the Environment Earl Deveaux reside in Nassau, The Bahamas.

TARA FORD

Tara Ford is President of GetHRHelp, Inc. She brings to the firm more than 18 years of hands-on Human Resources and Community Relations experience in disciplines ranging from Staffing and Recruiting to EEO/Affirmative Action Planning and Diversity Project Management. Tara Ford has been associated with UTC, West Palm Beach, FL and East Hartford, CT. and was responsible for successfully managing their company wide effort to recruit and hire in a 12-month period more than 1200 people. At the same time she managed the Company's EEO and Diversity Project Management directive by developing and implementing retention strategies for women and minorities. Tara Ford is past President and Board Member of Seagull Industries for the Disabled for which she volunteered her time and talents for more than five years. As President, she led a board of 15 community professionals in the development and growth of this United Way Agency. She also served as committee member for the Women of Distinction Award Ceremony, which recognizes women leaders in her community. She holds an MBA from the University of Miami, Coral Gables and a Bachelor of Science in Health/Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, all in Florida.

JAMES ROBIE GILBERT

Mr. Gilbert is currently Editor in Chief of ShowBoats International, a Bi-monthly publication for the luxury yachting community published in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with its business and editorial offices is Santa Barbara, Newport, New York, London, Nice, Hong Kong and Singapore. Through the guidance of Mr. Gilbert, ShowBoats International has helped galvanize the yachting community around the need to preserve the quality of marine environment. The publication has helped raise more than $1.5 million for important marine conservation efforts around the world, such as the Scientific Center of Monaco, The Jean-Michel Cousteau Institute and the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami (RSMAS). Mr. Gilbert currently serves on the Board of Directors of International SeaKeepers Society. The SeaKeepers in conjunction with its technical review panel have worked with RSMAS to develop, manufacture and deploy ocean-testing modules for use on yachts in support of ocean monitoring and important research.

J. "TY" MERRITT

Ty Merritt is the former owner and president of Perry Baromedical Corporation and long time officer and director of Perry Oceanographics, Inc. at one time the largest producer of civilian submersibles and diving equipment. Mr. Merritt served six years in the US Navy Submarine Service (1962-1968). He was a crewmember on the first manned submarine (Trieste) to reach the deepest depth in the ocean. He was submersible pilot "Deep Diver" for the first diver lockout and excursion from a submarine. He developed technology for Lunar Module Transfer lock and seals. Mr. Merritt trained with NASA astronauts in "Hydrolab" for weightlessness and isolation studies. He is the builder of Recon IV, the first ROV to locate debris from the Challenger shuttle disaster. Mr. Merritt was a pioneer involved in the transfer of diver decompression technology to medical hyperbaric technology. Today, many hospitals provide hyperbaric treatment using Merritt"s chambers. Mr. Merritt and his wife reside in St. Augustine, Florida. In addition to running Merritt International Reality Group, Ty is a principle owner of E-TEC Marine, a major supplier of anodized aluminum in the marine market.

J. HELENA PERRY

Mrs. J. Helena Perry is the co-founder of the Perry Institute for Marine Science and is currently serving as a member of the Board of Trustees. She is the former Chairperson of the Board of the Guardian Group, located in Nassau, Bahamas and Vice Chairperson of Energy Partners, Inc., an enterprise started by John H. Perry, Jr. Energy Partners leads cutting edge technology for renewable, hydrogen energy and is now operated by Teledyne Energy Systems, Inc., where Helena serves on the Board. Helena is an active member of the Forum Club and supports many charitable and environmental organizations. Helena has been active with land and species conservation efforts nationally and internationally. Through an initiative in 2004 between PIMS and IUCN, Helena's efforts promote programs aimed at threatened marine resources and the need for species conservation.

NICHOLAS ROOSEVELT

Nicholas Roosevelt is the great-grandson of United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt and great- great nephew of United States President Theodore Roosevelt. He is a graduate of Emory Riddle Aeronautical University majoring in Aeronautical Science. Mr. Roosevelt is currently a pilot. He and his wife Kelly and their daughter Alexa reside in Wellington, Florida.
